I am an engineering manager and software engineer based in Zurich. Over the last 13+ years I have worked across product engineering, distributed systems, and technical leadership.

I tend to work at the boundary between people, product, and technology: hiring and developing engineers, shaping scope and delivery, reviewing architecture, improving engineering practices, and still building or prototyping when that is the useful thing to do.

From building software to building teams.

I started as a web engineer building customer-facing products and moved gradually into technical leadership and engineering management. The engineering never stopped being part of the job, but my leverage increasingly came from helping teams make better decisions and take broader ownership.

I later built distributed engineering teams, then built and ran a product engineering organisation as it grew to around 25 people across engineering, QA, and design. The work covered hiring and people development, capacity and delivery, customer relationships, technical direction, and the engineering practices that held those things together.

More recently, I managed an engineering transition in industrial automation while co-owning architecture and technical direction for a Go and MQTT system.

I build things to understand them properly.

My current projects include ZaimuTomo, an Elixir and Phoenix accounting application with an LLM-assisted invoice workflow, and a local multimodal search proof of concept using SigLIP 2, PostgreSQL with pgvector, and local inference.

I also spend a lot of time experimenting with coding agents and the engineering systems around them: isolation, durable work, context management, testing, review, and human-controlled delivery.
